Roundhouse: turn the hip over

Turn the hip over

A roundhouse without hip turn is a shin slap. The chamber, pivot, and hip rotation decide whether the kick has power and returns safely.

On your own it is easy to shorten the turn and still feel busy. Video helps; a coach calling the hip mid-set helps more.

Form Fighter tracks the kick path and hip, then drills the missing turn with spoken cues so the next roundhouse is not the same shortcut.

Checklist

  • Chamber before the kick extends
  • Support foot pivots with the hip
  • Hip turns over through impact
  • Hands stay up through the kick
