Visible turn cues — limited proxies, not exact hip yaw
A phone camera cannot verify exact 3D hip yaw or exact heel-pivot angle. At best it can show a limited, quality-gated visible turn of the torso or hips from the angle you filmed. Treat “turn more” as an instruction cue unless Form Fighter surfaces a specific visible-motion note from a clear clip.
What this strike is
Visible turn is a screen-plane observation. It is not lab biomechanics and not a force reading.
Across punches and kicks, solo athletes often move the limb while the torso stays quiet on camera. That pattern is useful to notice — and easy to over-interpret.
If feet are cut off, square-on, or blurry, do not invent a hip story. Ask for a clearer side-on take instead.
Rotational power, weight transfer through the floor, and exact pivot geometry are outside standard camera feedback.
How to film for a useful read
- Side-on for kicks; slight angle for punches
- Both feet visible
- One strike family at a time so the turn cue is readable
Visible-motion checklist
- Feet stay in frame through the throw
- Any torso/hip turn you coach is visible on the screen plane
- You separate instruction (“feel the turn”) from measurement
- You re-film after one cue instead of stacking five
What a phone camera can show
- Limited visible torso/hip turn as a quality-gated proxy when framing is good
- Whether the limb moved while the body stayed square
What it cannot tell you
- Exact 3D hip yaw
- Exact heel-pivot degrees
- Rotational power or weight transfer through the floor
Safety and limits
Do not force painful pivots to “get more turn” for the camera.
